Check out the Video below to see what I mean. Both iphoene and ipod are almost identical to iTunes. So what works for one works for other. Sometimes when jailbreaking an iPhone or after installing a jailbreak app, your iPhone will get stuck on reboot, or will hang on the Apple logo. This problem happened to me before and it was kind of a nightmare. In order to get your iPhone back on track, you will have to put it in DFU mode (Device Firmware Update mode). This will help you restore your iPhone without loading the OS first. Putting you iPhone into DFU mode should be used as a last resort if your iPhone is either stuck on the Apple logo or keeps rebooting.
1. Connect your iPhone to iTunes.
2. Hold the Home button and the Power button at the same time for 10 seconds.
3. After exactly 10 seconds, release the Power button but keep holding the Home button for 10 seconds or until iTunes pops up a message saying that it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. At this point, click OK, then click “Restore” in iTunes.
Note that it often takes several attempts to get your iPhone in DFU mode.

ReplyDeleteI have a iphone that I unlocked and now its stuck on the itunes icon and usb cord. What should I do? Do I have to re-unlock it?
ReplyDeleteDear Spencer,
ReplyDeleteTry following the steps mentioned in the video. You will get your home screen back. If you lose your unlock, you will have to unlock it again.

I can seem to do as instructed in the video. My problem is my computer doesn't seem to recognize it at all beyond charging it. I can't find it in the device manager and it's not showing up in iTunes at all. I've uninstalled and reinstalled everything, but nothing is working. Any ideas?
ReplyDeleteDear Tyler,
ReplyDeleteIf your computer doesn't recognize it how do you install or uninstall something? Do you mean you have tried reinstalling softwares on your computer? Well, all you can do is try a few more times. Sometimes, holding the power key alone, or power and home keys together, or just home key alone might yield a screen which can lead your ipod/iphone being recognized by iTunes.

wow.first i was stuck on the itunes screen. i just tried this procedure and after i let up on the top button but had not yet let up on the home button my phone showed the apple for a moment then turned itself off. I continued to hold the home button in despair but no workie. i went to try to repeat the process and now the phone is completely dead no matter what i try. any suggestions as to what i should do next? thanks.
ReplyDeletePlease try charging your phone, it could be the case that battery has exhausted. Put it in charging and try the same steps you should be ok.

ReplyDeleteDear issa,
ReplyDeleteWhat you can do is go to iTunes, select your iPhone and hit Restore. This will update the software and you will be able to use it again. If you are into jailbreaking and unlocking then let us know your firmware and iPhone model (3G, 3GS, 4 etc.)

I've had this problem every single time i try to update my phone OS. The update fails in itunes, and from then on the phone just shows the connect to itunes screen. The problem is the phone does not get recognised in itunes, even when using this technique. The only solution I've found is plugging the phone into another computer with itunes, then enabling restore mode.
ReplyDeletewe cant see the restore button in our itunes.... :(

Dear Anony,
ReplyDeleteIf you do not see anything on your iPod please make sure it has some charge left in it. I would charge it overnight and then try to turn it on. Please comment back when you have charged and we will figure out what is wrong.

need halp please ipod touch 8g says ipod disabled try again in 21,789,488 mins any ideas please
ReplyDeleteDear Anony,
ReplyDeleteLooks like you have an issue with the password. Entering wrong password multiple times will result in disabled ipod. You can connect it to PC. Click on iPod and then click on summary tab. Then restore it and you will have it working but the data/music will be gone.

ReplyDeleteHello Programmer,
ReplyDeleteI live in East Africa and just purchased an unlocked iPhone 3GS from a reputable seller on Amazon. I plugged the phone into a PC (Windows XP) and now have the itunes/USB issue.
I also have access to a Mac with OS 10.6 - should I be charging on a Mac instead? Should I restore on either or will this ruin the unlock? How do I unlock again as I live in a remote area?
Many thanks, LK
